Halloween is in 4 days, which means that pumpkin- and apple-centered desserts are absolutely everywhere. To shade to pumpkins or apples, but I felt like other seasonal produce deserved some time in the spotlight too. Enter pears and these ginger pear oatmeal cream pies!
Since pears are pretty delicately-flavored, I didn't want to overload these oatmeal cream pies with strong flavors. Fresh ginger went in to keep things light and spicy, as well as cardamom, whose floral notes complement pears really well. I flavored the frosting with molasses, primarily because I'm obsessed with molasses buttercream right now. As an added bonus, molasses is warm and fruity and goes really well with pears!
